OHPW Diet Recipe and Prep
OHPW stands for Original High Protein Wombaroo. This diet uses Wombaroo High Protein Supplement , honey, eggs, bee pollen , fruits, and vegetables as part of a complete feeding plan for sugar gliders.
This diet should be followed as a complete plan. Do not mix OHPW with other diet plans, and do not replace the Wombaroo High Protein Supplement with a different powder unless you are intentionally following a different diet with different instructions.
OHPW Ingredients
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 1/2 cups honey
- 3 scrambled eggs, cooked without oil, butter, salt, or seasoning
- 1/4 cup Wombaroo High Protein Supplement or Wombaroo High Protein Supplement option
- 1 tablespoon bee pollen
Preparation
- Cook the eggs by scrambling them without oil, butter, salt, or seasoning.
- Set the eggs aside and allow them to cool.
- In a bowl or blender, mix the warm water and honey until the honey is dissolved.
- Add the Wombaroo High Protein Supplement and bee pollen.
- Add the cooled scrambled eggs.
- Blend until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Pour the mixture into ice cube trays or freezer-safe containers.
- Freeze the mixture.
The frozen mixture usually has a soft, scoopable texture. Portion size can vary depending on the tray or container used, so measure the amount you are feeding instead of relying only on cube size.
Daily Presentation
A common feeding amount is:
- About 1 teaspoon of OHPW mixture per glider
- 1 tablespoon of fruits per glider
- 1 tablespoon of vegetables per glider
Offer the OHPW mixture with fruits and vegetables in the evening. Remove uneaten fresh food the next morning and clean food dishes daily.
Fruits and Vegetables
OHPW is commonly served with a variety of safe fruits and vegetables. Unlike BML, which has a very specific produce list, OHPW is often paired with rotating fruits and vegetables or approved salad mixtures.
Keep produce choices balanced and avoid relying too heavily on sweet fruits. Choose plain fresh or frozen produce without added sugar, syrup, salt, sauces, butter, or seasoning.
If you are following a specific OHPW variation, breeder recommendation, or salad plan, use those fruit and vegetable directions consistently instead of mixing instructions from another diet.
Foods and Ingredients to Avoid
- Do not use chocolate.
- Do not use caffeine.
- Do not use seasoned, salted, buttered, or oily eggs.
- Do not use canned fruit in syrup.
- Do not randomly add extra vitamins or calcium.
- Do not substitute another supplement powder unless following a different complete diet.
Important Notes
- Fresh water should always be available.
- Remove uneaten fresh food daily.
- Clean dishes daily to reduce odor and bacteria.
- Do not mix OHPW with BML, TPG, Critter Love, or other diet plans.
- Do not add extra supplements unless directed by an exotic veterinarian.
OHPW is a structured diet, so the staple mixture, fruits, vegetables, and feeding amounts should work together. If your sugar glider is underweight, overweight, pregnant, nursing, ill, recovering from illness, or refusing parts of the diet, speak with an exotic veterinarian before making major diet changes.
